Derek Thompson ist Hockeyspieler und hat sich mit seiner brutalen Spielart schon längst einen Namen gemacht: Als "Zahnfee" ist er bekannt dafür, seinen Gegnern gern einen Zahn auszuschlagen. Nach einem besonders groben Foul wird er mit einer Woche übernatürlicher Sozialarbeit bestraft - und zwar als "richtige" Zahnfee mit dazu gehörigen Requisiten wie Flügel und Zauberstab. Am Anfang ist Derek mit seiner neuen Aufgabe hoffnungslos überfordert und stellt sich schon beim Fliegen dämlich an. Doch allmählich findet er Gefallen daran.
