The King of Comedians!

Due to a revolution in his country, King Shahdov comes to New York—almost broke. To get some money, he makes TV commercials, where he meets a child who has communist parents. Because of this meeting, he's immediately suspected of being a communist—and gets caught up in the McCarthy's hearings.

Eine Revolution treibt König Shadhov von Estrovia aus seinem Land. Er flieht nach Amerika. Sein Premierminister war fürsorglich genug, den Staatsschatz mitgehen zu lassen. Allerdings setzt er sich über Nacht mit dem ganzen Geld nach Südamerika ab und lässt den König mittellos in New York zurück. Shadhov erlebt den lauten Trubel der schönen neuen Welt, die sich gerade den Verrücktheiten der Rock'n Roll-Dekade und der Hexenjagd auf unamerikanische Elemente hingibt.

Il fait la connaissance d'Ann Kay, qui travaille à la télévision, et participe bientôt, contre son gré, à une vulgaire émission publicitaire. Plus tard, visitant une maison de redressement, il se lie d'amitié avec un malheureux gamin doué d'une conscience politique précoce. Cette rencontre, elle non plus, ne lui portera pas chance...
