Lennie James (* 11. Oktober 1965; Nottingham, England, GB) hatte ursprünglich den Wunsch, Rugbyspieler zu werden. Den Weg zur Schauspielerei fand er eher zufällig, als er eine Freundin zu einem Vorsprechen begleitete. Sein außergewöhnliches Talent führte ihn an die Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, wo er 1988 seinen Abschluss machte. Anschließend widmete er sich dem Theater und begann 1990 mit dem Schreiben von Drehbüchern. Sein Drama Storm Damage wurde im Jahr 2000 von der BBC ausgestrahlt und erhielt 2001 den Royal Television Society Award. Zu seinen herausragenden Filmrollen zählen Lost in Space (1998), Les Miserables (1998), Snatch – Schweine und Diamanten (2000), 24 Hour Party People (2002) sowie Sahara – Abenteuer in der Wüste (2005), in dem er an der Seite von Matthew McConaughey und Penélope Cruz spielte.
