Taron Egerton (born 10 November 1989) is a Welsh actor. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Egerton performed in stage plays. He gained recognition for his starring role as a spy recruit in the action comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and its sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). Egerton has also starred in several biographical films, portraying military officer Edward Brittain in the drama Testament of Youth (2014), the titular ski-jumper in the sports film Eddie the Eagle (2016), and singer Elton John in the musical Rocketman (2019). The last of these earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Egerton has since starred in the miniseries Black Bird (2022) and portrayed Henk Rogers in the biopic Tetris (2023), both for Apple TV+.

Comme tout bon comédien, Taron Egerton fait ses débuts sur les planches en prenant des cours de théâtre. Très vite, il joue devant les caméras, à commencer par le court-métrage “Pop” en 2012. Il se fait remarquer l’année suivante au petit écran, en interprétant Liam Jay le temps de deux épisodes de la série Inspecteur Lewis. Son talent est davantage mis en valeur dans la série The Smoke par le biais de son personnage Dennis Severs. En 2014, pour son premier long-métrage, sa carrière fait un bond en avant lorsqu’il joue Eggsy / Gary Unwin avec Colin Firth dans le film d’action Kingsman : Services Secrets réalisé par Matthew Vaughn. Après quoi, il se retrouve à l'affiche de l'adaptation de Mémoires de jeunesse, l'histoire d'une passion amoureuse au cœur de la Première Guerre mondiale. Il y interprète le jeune frère de Vera Britain, grande figure du féminisme et du pacifisme jouée dans le film par Alicia Vikander. Jeune acteur très en vogue, Taron Egerton est également attendu au côté de Tom Hardy dans Legend, un film de gangsters dans le Londres des années 60 ainsi que dans le biopic Eddie The Eagle, où il incarnera Eddie Edwards, le premier Anglais à avoir représenté la Grande Bretagne dans une compétition de ski olympique.
