Frank McRae (born June 3, 1942, died April 29, 2021) was an American actor and former professional football player. McRae was born in Memphis, Tennessee. McRae graduated from Tennessee State University with a double major in drama and history. He was a defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears in the 1967 NFL season. Among his acting roles are the history teacher, Mr. Teasdale, in Red Dawn, bank robber Reed Youngblood in Dillinger, Hazel in Cannery Row, Spanky in The Wizard, James Bond's friend Sharkey in 1989's Licence to Kill, inmate Eclipse in Lock Up, shouting police captain in 48 Hrs. (a role he later parodied in Last Action Hero and Loaded Weapon 1), the train coachman in Tracks and former professional boxing champion Harry Noble in *batteries not included. He also made an effective pairing with John Candy as two bumbling subordinates; first as two tank soldiers (under an equally bumbling Sgt. Frank Tree played by Dan Aykroyd) in the cult classic 1941 and later as "Walley World" Security Guards in National Lampoon's Vacation . He played Jim, the Mechanic in the movie Used Cars. Franklin „Frank“ McRae (* 18. März 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee; † 29. April 2021 in Santa Monica, Kalifornien) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und American-Football-Spieler. Frank McRae studierte an der Tennessee State University im Bereich Theater und Geschichte und spielte im Jahr 1967 als Defensive Tackle unter Head Coach George Halas bei den Chicago Bears in der National Football League (NFL). Nach einem Spieljahr bei den Bears beendete er seine Laufbahn. Sein Filmdebüt feierte McRae 1972 im Film Cool Breeze, er wurde im Abspann jedoch nicht bei den mitwirkenden Schauspielern erwähnt. Im folgenden Jahr trat er das erste Mal für einen Fernsehfilm mit dem Titel Snatched auf, diesmal jedoch mit Erwähnung. Schon bald konnte er kleinere Rollen in hoch dotierten Filmen übernehmen, wie etwa 1979 in Rocky II. 1982 folgte Nur 48 Stunden, acht Jahre darauf, im Jahre 1990 spielte er auch in der Fortsetzung mit, die unter dem Titel Und wieder 48 Stunden lief, mit, diesmal wurde McRae im Abspann jedoch nicht genannt. 1989 spielte McRae die Rolle des Sharkey im James-Bond-Film Lizenz zum Töten. Neben Filmen war McRae auch in Serien zu sehen, wie etwa 2003 für zwei Folgen in der Serie Emergency Room – Die Notaufnahme. Zuletzt trat er schauspielerisch 2006 in Erscheinung.
