Ludovic “Ludo” Chailloleau is a French-born animation supervisor at Wētā FX. He trained in 2D and 3D animation, graduating in 2004 from École Georges Méliès in Paris, where he studied in the section “Artisan of the Animated Image.” Early in his career, he worked in France before moving into global VFX roles. Chailloleau has built a reputation, especially at Wētā FX, for his expertise in keyframe animation, previsualisation (previs), and crafting choreographed motion that connects concept to execution in effects-heavy sequences. He has held senior roles, including Animation Supervisor, where he led work on character facial animation, crowd and large-scale creature sequences, and full CG integration. Some of the films he has worked on include The Jungle Book (2016), where he was a Senior Animator, and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), where his work contributing to the character “Caesar” won him a VES Award for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature. He also worked on Alita: Battle Angel (2019) as Animation and Previs Supervisor, guiding facial work on the CG character Alita and overseeing the keyframed Motorball Chase sequence. Most recently, Chailloleau was Animation Supervisor on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), a role for which he was nominated in 2025 for the Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Live Action Production, shared with several colleagues.
