The detectives search for clues when a group of perpetrators torture a man for no apparent reason; a woman reports her husband as missing, but Sipowicz and Clark suspect she's not being completely forthcoming; and Fraker testifies in court.

Hector Acevedo, une vielle connaissance de Rodriguez, vient témoigner contre lui au procès. Un homme, violemment battu et torturé, est retrouvé inconscient dans son appartement. Les inspecteurs pensent à un règlement de compte. Parallèlement, une femme vient déclarer la disparition de son époux, un père aimant et dévoué. Elle soupçonne le cousin de ce dernier, un petit voyou, d'en être responsable. L'affaire prend une nouvelle tournure lorsque l'épouse est elle-même agressée...
