During a routine investigation into a domestic shooting incident, the detectives discover that a child has been missing for 2 months. Sipowicz - back at work after his op - and Russell have to tread carefully to discover the truth. Simone is called away to help another squad who are searching for a missing tenant from Simone's owned apartment block.

Nach seiner erfolgreichen OP kehrt Sipowicz in den Dienst zurück – vielleicht ein wenig zu früh? Bei einer Befragung bricht er zusammen. Russell und Simone untersuchen den Fall einer Frau, deren Freund von ihrem Ex-Ehemann ermordet wurde. Der gibt in seiner Aussage an, dass er sicher war, dass seine drogensüchtige Ex-Frau und ihr neuer Freund für das Verschwinden seiner Tochter verantwortlich sind. Und auch ein alter Freund von Bobby scheint in einen Mord verwickelt zu sein.
