The Lone Gunmen call Mulder and Scully to a virtual reality development lab where they learn that one of the program testers was killed inside the computer generated game environment by the digital image of a woman. Needing to get his yah-yah's, Mulder enters the game to fight the woman, but Scully must step in to save him.

Bei einem Probelauf wird ein Spieler ganz real getötet. Fox Mulder und Dana Scully übernehmen den Fall. Les inventeurs d'un nouveau jeu vidéo en décor réel se trouvent confrontés à des morts de joueurs bien véridiques, provoquées par une tueuse virtuelle et parasite. Mulder et Scully sont alors appelés sur l'enquête sur demande des Lone Gunmen, qui participent financièrement au projet de l'entreprise FPS. Mulder, fan de ce type de jeux vidéo, doit alors intervenir en live et se retrouve projeté dans le décor du jeu afin d'affronter Maitreya, la créature féminine parasite.
