It's Veteran's Day and the Formans are getting ready for their annual barbeque after the town parade. Trouble is that Bob, who was only in the National Guard and never saw any action, has inexplicably decided to throw his own barbeque in competition with the Formans. Hyde tells Jackie point blank that he's not interested, inspiring her to bring a date to the Formans' to make him jealous. This ploy causes Hyde to come to a horrifying realization about his true feelings for Jackie.

Am Veteranentag veranstaltet Red jedes Jahr ein großes Grillfest. Dieses Jahr kommt ihm jedoch Bob in die Quere, der just an dem Tag eine Gegenveranstaltung startet. Ein Wettbewerb entbrennt. Donna hält zu ihrem Vater, als sie erfährt, dass er Red nicht die Show stehlen will, sondern ganz andere Gründe hat. Eric hält zu Red, da er Bobs Motiv nicht kennt und Donna außerdem seinen Vater beleidigt hat. In der Zwischenzeit scheint sich zwischen Jackie und Hyde etwas anzubahnen.
