Michael Ralla is a visual effects supervisor. He is an engineering graduate from Stuttgart’s HdM (Hochschule der Medien), where he earned his degree in Audiovisual Media. He began his visual effects career at Scanline in Munich, before expanding his experience across top-tier studios around the world—including Animal Logic in Sydney, MPC in Vancouver, Framestore in London, Digital Domain in Los Angeles, and ILM in San Francisco. Ralla’s industry recognition includes a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Commercial for Welcome Home (2018), shared with Steve Drew, Alejandro Villabon, and Peter Timberlake. He has also received nominations from both the VES and the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) for his visual effects work, including for The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021) and several commercials. Ralla initially pursued aspirations as a heavy metal drummer and trained in sound engineering before discovering a passion for compositing.
