Krysten Alyce Ritter (born December 16, 1981) is an American actress. After an early modelling stint, she appeared on the UPN noir mystery series Veronica Mars (2005–2006) and the CW comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls (2006–2007). Her breakthrough role was Jane Margolis on the AMC drama series Breaking Bad (2009–2010), a character she reprised in its spinoff film El Camino (2019). She headlined the ABC sitcom Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (2012–2013) before playing the character Jessica Jones on the superhero series Jessica Jones (2015–2019) and The Defenders (2017), both set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She also appeared in the Max miniseries Love & Death (2023). Ritter's early film roles include the romantic comedies 27 Dresses (2007), What Happens in Vegas (2008), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), and She's Out of My League (2010). She wrote, co-produced, and starred in the comedy Life Happens (2011). This was followed by roles in the horror comedy Vamps (2012), the comedy-drama Listen Up Philip (2014), the Veronica Mars continuation (2014), the biographical drama Big Eyes (2014), the comedy-drama The Hero (2017), and the dark fantasy Nightbooks (2021). Outside of acting, Ritter serves as a singer and guitarist for the indie rock duo Ex Vivian, and released the psychological thriller novel Bonfire in 2017. Krysten Alyce Ritter ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin und ein ehemaliges Model. Ritter wurde in einem Einkaufszentrum von einem Talentscout von Elite Model Management entdeckt. Sie arbeitete daraufhin als Model auf den Laufstegen von New York, Mailand und Paris und drehte Werbespots. Nebenbei machte sie in New York eine Schauspielausbildung. 2001 gab sie das Modeln zugunsten ihrer Schauspielkarriere auf. 2001 hatte Ritter ihre erste kleine Filmrolle in Männerzirkus. Nach einer Gastrolle in Law & Order im Jahr 2004 erhielt sie eine wiederkehrende Rolle als Gia Goodman in der zweiten Staffel der Fernsehserie Veronica Mars. Weitere wiederkehrende Rollen hatte sie in Gilmore Girls und Ehe ist…. Zudem war sie in den Spielfilmen 27 Dresses und Love Vegas zu sehen. 2009 übernahm sie in der zweiten Staffel der Serie Breaking Bad die Rolle der Jane Margolis. 2012 stand sie neben Alicia Silverstone, Sigourney Weaver und Malcolm McDowell in Amy Heckerlings dunkler Romantik-Komödie Vamps – Dating mit Biss vor der Kamera. Ritter spielte eine Hauptrolle in der Comedyserie Apartment 23, die im April 2012 auf ABC Premiere hatte, aber bereits im Laufe der zweiten Staffel abgesetzt wurde. Die Serie, die bereits im Juni 2011 einen Critics’ Choice Television Award als Vielversprechendste neue Serie erhielt, wurde ab dem 28. Februar 2013 auch in Deutschland von ProSieben ausgestrahlt. Seit November 2015 ist sie in der Hauptrolle der Serie Marvel’s Jessica Jones zu sehen.
