Mitchell e Cameron hanno in programma di andare ad un concerto di Lady Gaga, ma il secondo è bloccato a letto dall'influenza. Cam preferirebbe che il compagno rimanesse a casa ad accudirlo, ma alla fine Mitchell decide di andare comunque all'evento musicale. Claire intanto convince il marito a scambiarsi i ruoli di genitore buono/genitore cattivo almeno per un giorno; Phil costringe quindi Alex e Haley a rimanere a casa a pulire il bagno, mentre Claire porta Manny e Luke a guidare dei go kart, esagerando nel tentativo di farli divertire. Gloria, intanto, porta a casa uno sconosciuto, Guillermo, per fargli dare consigli per gli affari da Jay, secondo cui la moglie spesso esagera nel tentativo di aiutare il prossimo. Guillermo finirà con il lasciare da loro il suo cane, Stella; anche se Jay inizialmente non lo vuole tenere, alla fine ci si affezionerà.
