A bomb goes off in an office building killing one and injuring many more. The chief suspect is a security guard who left minutes before the explosion and has knowledge in bomb making. Nick helps his prostitute friend again. After giving in to his passion, she is found dead the next morning. Naturally, Nick is a suspect and to make it worse, Ecklie has the case.

Une bombe vient d'exploser dans un immeuble de Las Vegas. L'un des vigiles, préposé à la surveillance de l'immeuble, a été tué. L'autre était absent, parti dix minutes seulement avant l'explosion. Il est aussitôt considéré comme le premier suspect de l'affaire. Sur place, les experts recueillent des échantillons de poudre. Les analyses révèlent que l'engin était aisé à construire et facile à utiliser. Le criminel n'était pas forcément un spécialiste des explosifs. Une petite pièce de métal, portant deux lettres gravées, a également été retrouvée. Les enquêteurs pensent immédiatement que le psychopathe souhaite être capturé et laisse des indices derrière lui à cet effet...
