When eight bodies are found in what appears to be a meteor site in the middle of the desert, CSI Finlay recognizes one of the casualties, prompting her to revisit her past.

Un charnier contenant huit squelettes de femmes est découvert dans le désert, près d'une base militaire. Sur l'une des victimes, Finlay reconnaît le pendentif d'une jeune femme disparue deux ans plus tôt à Seattle. Cette enquête lui avait coûté son poste car elle avait tenté d'obtenir l'ADN du suspect de façon illégale. Cette affaire la hante depuis deux ans. Elle est soulagée de pouvoir, enfin, annoncer à la mère de la jeune femme qu'elle a retrouvé sa fille. Les indices prouvent que les corps ont d'abord été enterrés dans la région de Seattle avant d'être transportés dans le Nevada et inhumés à nouveau sur un terrain racheté par le gouvernement dans les années quatre-vingt-dix à un propriétaire privé.
