Catherine called in by a pornographic-film developer to view graphic footage from a snuff movie in which a woman is brutally slain. But the clues are scant: The murderer isn't clearly seen, the cheap-looking hotel room could be almost anywhere and the film was sent to the developer anonymously. Outside of town, Grissom investigates another killing when a body, smothered with fire ants, is found stuffed inside a large toolbox. The initial findings indicate that the person died well over a year earlier.

Die Besitzerin eines Fotolabors alarmiert das CSI-Team, weil auf einem Film, den sie entwickelt hat, offenbar ein echter Mord zu sehen ist. Auch Catherine und Warrick ist sofort klar, dass sie hier einen so genannten Snuff-Film in den Händen halten. Zur selben Zeit untersuchen Nick und Grissom ein Mordopfer, das vollkommen von Ameisen zerfressen ist. Insektenspezialist Grissom findet aber dennoch eine Möglichkeit, den Todeszeitpunkt zu bestimmen, und seine Exfreundin Teri schafft es, das Gesicht anhand des Schädels zu rekonstruieren.

L'équipe visionne un film pornographique dans lequel une femme semble être assassinée d'un coup de couteau. La scène semble trop réelle pour être une fiction. Grissom enquête sur le cadavre retrouvé dans un coffre à outils. Il a été dévoré par des fourmis rouges. Les enquêteurs parviennent à l'identifier. Il s'agit d'un jeune trisomique disparu 17 mois auparavant. Il était garçon d'écurie.
