Le cancérologue Christopher Braddy vient d'être sauvagement assassiné. Son meurtrier l'a étranglé après lui avoir asséné un violent coup à la tête. Son stock de médicaments a également été pillé. Gabriel, en route pour aller voir ses parents avec sa fiancée, se rend sur la scène du crime accompagné. La victime partageait son cabinet avec un autre spécialiste, Steven Parr, qui refuse de délivrer la liste des patients de la victime aux policiers.
