The murder of a priest puts the squad on a collision course with the Catholic Church and drives a wedge between Brenda and Chief Pope. Meanwhile, Brenda’s parents are in town while her father continues his cancer treatments.

Le corps du père Adam Gray est découvert sur le parking de l'école San Angelo. L'homme qui enseignait dans cet établissement a été égorgé selon les premières constatations. Les enquêteurs connaissent des difficultés sur cette affaire. L'archevêché ne veut pas transmettre aux autorités le journal du défunt. Brenda arrive finalement à apprendre par la gouvernante du presbytère que la victime avait un rendez-vous en centre-ville dans un appartement pour donner l'extrême-onction à un médecin. Dans ce lieu, la police découvre des photos de jeunes préadolescentes en uniforme scolaire. Le bail de l'appartement est au nom d'Adam Gray. Mais le prêtre n'est pas connu du gérant de l'immeuble...
