After a routine speed trap leads to a messy accident on a city highway, Chris and Gail find one of the cars mysteriously empty and quickly realize that its license plate matches the one being broadcast in a citywide “Amber Alert” – a nine-year old girl has been abducted and the driver of the vehicle is the prime suspect. A whirlwind manhunt ensues involving a complex interrogation of the missing child’s parents. As always, everyone has a secret.

Traci et Andy sont de corvée pour retrouver une facture après que des documents aient été passés à la déchiqueteuse. Gail et Chris n'arrêtent pas de se disputer à cause du partenaire du frère de Gail et ils sont de corvée d'excès de vitesse en tandem avec Dov et Oliver. Alors qu'ils se disputent, deux voitures passent à grande vitesse. Ils en informent Oliver et Dov, ces derniers ne peuvent les arrêter ; quelques instants après les deux voitures ont un accident. La passagère de la deuxième voiture est blessée et inconsciente. Pour la première, les occupants ont disparu mais les policiers découvrent qu'il s'agit de la voiture utilisée pour enlever une petite fille. Les parents sont invités à venir au commissariat, Sam est persuadé que la mère cache quelque chose.
