The Doctor receives a distress signal from an old friend. Could there really be another living Time Lord out there? Hopes raised, he follows the signal to a junkyard planet sitting upon a mysterious asteroid in a Bubble universe, populated by a very strange family, as the time-travelling drama continues. The Doctor, Amy and Rory are given the warmest of welcomes by Auntie, Uncle and Nephew. But the beautiful and insane Idris greets them in a more unusual fashion – what is she trying to tell the Doctor? As the Doctor investigates, he unwittingly puts his friends in the gravest danger.

Mentre il TARDIS viaggia nello Spazio, il Dottore riceve una chiamata da un Signore del Tempo sotto forma di un cubo luminoso e si precipita su un asteroide al di fuori dell'universo chiamato Casa. Questo risulta essere una discarica di TARDIS abitata da tre strane persone malandate e un Ood, chiamati rispettivamente Zio, Zia, Idris e Nipote. Casa si rivela essere un'entità con una coscienza che si nutre di TARDIS. Questa ruba il TARDIS del Dottore trasferendone la memoria nel corpo "umano" di Idris, quindi fugge con al suo interno Amy e Rory per andare in cerca di nuove prede nell'universo. Idris, che ha al suo interno la matrice del TARDIS, ed il Dottore costruiscono un altro TARDIS, senza involucro esterno, dai rottami sparsi sull'asteroide e si lanciano all'inseguimento di Casa.
