Alles scheint sich im Hotel Transsilvanien zum Besseren entwickelt zu haben: Draculas strenge Regel, dass nur Monster willkommen sind, wurde endlich gelockert und die Türen stehen auch für menschliche Gäste offen. Doch hinter geschlossenen Sargdeckeln ist Drac um seinen niedlichen Enkel Dennis besorgt, der - halb Mensch, halb Vampir - immer noch keinerlei Anzeichen zeigt, dass auch ein Vampir in ihm steckt. Während seine Tochter Mavis damit beschäftigt ist, gemeinsam mit ihrem Mann Johnny die menschliche Verwandtschaft zu besuchen - und selbst in einen Kulturschock hineinsteuert -, ruft Großvater Drac seine Freunde Frank, Murray, Wayne und Griffin zusammen, um für Dennis ein "Monster im Training"-Boot Camp zu veranstalten.
