A la gare, Lucas intercepte Aram, un contact venu de Damas avec des informations à livrer au MI-5. Mais Lucas n'est pas le seul à l'attendre et Aram se fait poignarder par des agents étrangers. Avant de perdre connaissance, l'homme l'informe que Mohammed Khordha, le numéro 3 d'al-Qaida, souhaite parler. A quelles conditions ? Personne ne le sait encore. Harry Pearce sollicite une entrevue avec le Premier ministre, qui refuse catégoriquement d'entamer les négociations avec un terroriste de cette envergure. Khordha est l'un des hommes les plus recherchés par les États-Unis. Harry parvient à convaincre le Premier ministre, et la section D organise un rendez-vous avec Khordha. Un dispositif de traçage ultrasophistiqué est alors mis en place.
