Rose requests a trip back to the day her father, Pete Tyler, died. Reluctantly, the Doctor agrees, but he realises he has made a mistake, when Rose saves Pete from being run over by a car. This has now changed the timeline, and Reapers are transposing themselves all over the Universe. However, this time, the Doctor doesn't have a plan…

Der Doktor bringt Rose zurück zum 7. November 1987, der Tag, an dem ihr Vater Pete bei einem Verkehrsunfall mit Fahrerflucht getötet wurde. Rose will den sterbenden Mann nur trösten, aber im Moment des Ereignisses entscheidet sie spontan, ihn zu retten. Mit dieser unüberlegten Aktion bringt sie die Zeitlinie in Unordnung - ein Zeitparadoxon droht. Fliegende Monster, quasi eine Art 'Gesundheitspolizei', tauchen auf, und beginnen den Planeten aufzufressen.
