In a forbidden library at the heart of the Vatican, the pope urges the Doctor to read the ancient text - but can he handle the truth?

Eine vatikanische Abordnung bittet den Doktor um Hilfe: Im päpstlichen Bibliotheksarchiv für ketzerische Schriften befindet sich ein Dokument namens Veritas, das in einer ausgestorbenen Sprache verfasst wurde. Alle, die mit ihm in Kontakt kommen, begehen Selbstmord. Der Doktor, Bill und Nardole sollen nun einen Blick auf die Schrift werfen. Dabei stellt sich heraus, dass die Welt nicht das ist, was sie scheint, und dass sie zudem in größter Gefahr ist.
