Stardate: 41986.0. A derelict satellite is found with cryonically frozen humans aboard as the USS Enterprise is sent to investigate the destruction of outposts near Romulan space.

In unmittelbarer Nähe des Schiffes wird eine alte Raumkapsel entdeckt. Data beamt mit Worf hinüber und findet mehrere Behälter, in denen tiefgefrorene Menschen liegen. Drei sind in einwandfreiem Zustand, sie werden an Bord der Enterprise gebeamt und ins Leben zurückgeholt. Es stellt sich heraus, daß sie bereits im 20. Jahrhundert eingefroren wurden. Da mehrere Außenposten zerstört worden sind, fliegt die Enterprise zur Neutralen Zone.
