Stardate: 44614.6. Geordi must work with the real Leah Brahms when she arrives on the Enterprise when a space-borne alien life form thinks the ship is its mother. Tensions rise when she learns that Geordi created a holographic version of her several months before in order to save the ship from danger.

Die Enterprise tötet versehentlich ein schwangeres Weltraumwesen, dessen Nachwuchs nun auf die Enterprise geprägt ist. Dr. Leah Brahms beamt an Bord, und Geordi verliebt sich in sie, muß aber feststellen, daß sie leider verheiratet ist. Trotzdem retten sie miteinander das Weltraumbaby.

Date stellaire : 44614.6 Alors que le Lieutenant Commandeur Geordi La Forge accueil à bord de l'Enterprise le vrai Dr Leah Brahms avec qui il avait eu à faire sous la forme d'un hologramme 2 ans plus tôt, un vaisseau inconnue de Starfleet vogue dans les environs. Désireux d'en apprendre plus à son approche, le capitaine Picard souhaite le voir de plus près. L'Enterprise est alors attaqué par ce qui est en fait une énorme forme de vie extraterrestre. Picard ordonne de tirer sur la créature afin de sauver son vaisseau, mais la créature succombe immédiatement. Alors que l'Entreprise s'apprête à repartir, une forme de vie est détectée dans la créature morte.
