Bud Spencer was an Italian actor, filmmaker and a former professional swimmer. He was known for past roles in action-comedy films together with his long-time film partner Terence Hill. Growing from a successful swimmer in his youth, he got a degree in law, and has registered several patents. Bud also became a certified commercial airline and helicopter pilot, Bud Spencer also supported and funded many children's charities, including the Spencer Scholarship Fund. Bud Spencer and Terence Hill both appeared, produced and directed over 20 films together and thus became and remain best friends until he passed away.

Bud Spencer war ein italienischer Film- und Fernsehschauspieler, Stuntman, Jurist, Politiker (Forza Italia), Schwimmer und Wasserballspieler, Sänger, Komponist, Fabrikant, Drehbuchautor, Modedesigner, Musikproduzent und Erfinder sowie Gründer der Fluglinie Mistral Air. Pedersoli schwamm als erster Italiener die 100 Meter Freistil in unter einer Minute, gewann zehn Jahre in Folge in verschiedenen Disziplinen italienische Schwimmmeisterschaften, war Mitglied der italienischen Wasserballnationalmannschaft und nahm 1952 an den Olympischen Spielen in Helsinki sowie 1956 an den Olympischen Spielen in Melbourne teil. Bekannt wurde er vor allem unter seinem Künstlernamen Bud Spencer an der Seite von Terence Hill als Komikerduo in zahlreichen Abenteuer- und Western-Komödien mit aufwändig inszenierten Prügelszenen und einigen ernsteren Italowestern. Er spielte meist den dickköpfigen, phlegmatischen, aber gutherzigen Charakter, der seine Gegner „schlagkräftig“ außer Gefecht setzte.

Ancien sportif de haut niveau, il est plus connu pour ses comédies d'action (westerns spaghetti notamment) tournées en duo avec Terence Hill. Il est également apparu en vedette unique dans de nombreux autres films.
